Various venues offer classes with a vast variety from art for the creative to fitness classes, i.e. Pilates and Yoga. There are organised historical walks through the village and swap days for items like clothes, plants and more.

Outdoors

For the nature lovers we have a vast Commonage as well as the famous Waters meeting nature reserve, and if you like to walk, you can join our hiking club. The village also boasts various horse attractions for riders

Apart from our famous Historic Pig & Whistle Hotel, there are quite a number of rooms and cottages throughout the village which can be booked for short or long term stays.

Bathurst! Yup, it might be small, but it’s bursting with character and stories that’ll knock your socks off. Why’s it the best? Well, buckle up, I’m about to give you the lowdown! It’s like stepping into a history book. Ever heard of the Bathurst Toposcope? It’s this epic tower where you can see the whole town and as far as the sea – talk about a killer view!

Even though Bathurst is small, it’s big on culture. Art galleries, a small theatre, and local crafts – you name it, we got it! And oh, don’t miss the Bathurst Agricultural Show. It’s a riot of colours, showcasing our farming roots. You’ll learn a lot and have a blast, all at the same time!

History

Bathurst is full of histery from the 1820 settler's days. Many interesting sites with 1820 History can be viewed at the local churches, the toposcope, the mill, the powder magazine and various private residencies.

The Bathurst Commonage is said to be the largest is South Africa. It is a vital resource to the people of Bathurst and is used for livestock grazing, herb gathering, hunting and more.
Hikers and Landrover enthusiasts also like to enjoy the commonage for a braai, wild camping or to test their 4x4 driving skills, especially in the old quarry during wet weather.
